Arc Flash Studies
Our team of engineers can perform a comprehensive arc flash analysis and provide facility owners with the information necessary for employees to work safely on electrical equipment while remaining OSHA- and NFPA-compliant. Based on the results of the arc flash study, we provide custom arc flash labels for your equipment, updated electrical drawings, and a full report including analysis and recommendations to reduce and/or properly address arc flash hazards.
Arc Flash Mitigation Strategies
There are several methods for reducing clearing times when power is applied through an overcurrent protection device at a rate of 1200 amps or more, including zone-selective interlocking, differential relaying, energy reducing active arc flash mitigation system, instantaneous trip settings, instantaneous override settings, and energy-reducing maintenance. Our team can review your system and help you determine the best method to fit your application.
Short Circuit Studies
Our team performs electrical equipment rating studies and evaluations to determine if existing electrical equipment is properly rated for the available electrical system fault duty. Underrated equipment may appear to operate correctly but may not perform as designed during a short circuit or ground fault, which could result in far greater harm to workers, extensive equipment damage, and unnecessary downtime.
Protective Device Coordination
In performing an electrical system fuse, circuit breaker, and relay-selective coordination study, we’ll determine the correct settings of the equipment to ensure any problems on the electrical system are isolated and not allowed to cascade throughout the system.
NFPA 70E Training
Safe work practices, hazard identification, and PPE selection that affect the employee will be covered, as well as documentation and compliance concerns that affect the employer. We specialize in tailoring the information presented in this course to your specific needs, tasks, and equipment.
Harmonic Analysis
Are you experiencing power factor or power quality issues that have damaged equipment at your facility? Our team performs harmonic studies to determine harmonic distortion levels and filtering requirements within your facility and to determine if harmonic voltages and currents are at acceptable levels. Field measurements and computer simulations are used to characterize variable-frequency drives (VFDs). Other nonlinear loads and simulations are then performed to determine the filter specifications and effectiveness.
Infrared Thermal Inspection
To guarantee a reliable electrical system in your facility, you need to make sure you are performing preventive maintenance IR scans of your equipment. IR scans allow you to detect thermal abnormalities of equipment, but they also allow you to do so in a non-intrusive, hands-off way while still getting results in real-time. We can perform baseline scans and then annual scans to identify trends in your assets and equipment.
Electrical Engineering
Your industry facility and devices need safe, reliable, and smart power to enable production. Having a well-engineered design package for your industrial project can reduce costs and accelerate installation. From the incoming utility power to the plant floor, we can work with your team and the construction team to ensure the electrons go where they need to go.
